Friday 23rd September was Jeans for Genes day, an annual fundraising day to raise funds and awareness for genetic diseases. Lots of our customers use our home delivery service due to genetic conditions, so we jumped at the chance to don our denim for a good cause.
Did you know that we each have 25,000 genes, and just one fault on one gene can cause a genetic disorder, or that 1 in 25 children is born with a genetic disorder?
Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is one of the many genetic diseases that Jeans for Genes day raises money for, and here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fshDqN_CfgUl) you can watch the inspirational James Dunne talking about how the personalised home delivery service from Bullens helps him cope with the realities of living with EB.
We asked staff to donate to the Jeans for Genes appeal in return for wearing denim, and Cathy, one of our Personal Customer Advisers baked an amazing cheesecake to sell off. In total we raised £117.50, which Bullen very generously matched, so our total donation to the Jeans for Genes appeal was £235. Congratulations everyone!
