Delegates and exhibitors from 41 companies attended the Bladder and Bowel UK Symposium, Spring 2022 at the Bolton Arena on 9th March 2022 to present their latest product innovations for continence, where healthcare professionals learnt more about the products to manage and treat incontinence with. The event was very well attended and the nurses had an air of excitement to be back in face-to-face specialist education after the incredible demands of the COVID pandemic. This was the first event in two years.
It was great to get an understanding of the important relationship Bullen have with Healthcare Professionals; historical relations with Bullen’s Territory Manager Kerry Redman were evident and I understand how important it is to maintain these relations. As Bullen are a service driven company rather than a manufacturer I comprehended how important the first impression and first point of contact was with the healthcare professionals. I could see how essential the strong and enduring relationships between professionals in the bladder and bowel field were to its development and sustainability, and support quality care for patients. I also feel that having relationships and mutual respect with the other competitors enables Bullens to provide the service that it does.
Walking round the stands and looking at the company products, I noticed the difference between a product focused company and a patient focused company amongst the competitor companies. I introduced myself to Trio and discussed the benefits of their new products as we will be stocking them in the warehouse soon. In my role I send a lot of samples; I introduced myself to Clini Supplies who I deal with a lot and discussed an issue we have over packaging of samples and they were more than happy to accommodate and make the patient experience easier. The Territory Manager took my email address. I also met their new marketing manager who talked about his experience on marketing within this industry.
Eager to learn about the other companies, I collected literature on some of the recognised company names that we work with to enhance my knowledge. This literature can also be used for the next intern where they will have access to product information to some of the samples we send out to patients.
