The latest in our series of Meet the Team interviews is with Joanne Anderson, who is a financial analyst on our finance team. Joanne was voted the Bullen Healthcare Employee of the Year for 2018. This is an award that is nominated by colleagues across Bullens, and is awarded to the person who has consistently displayed our values over the year.
How long have you worked for Bullens and what did you do before?
I think I’ve been here 12 years now. Before I started at Bullens I was at University studying Media, Cultural Studies and Marketing and was working part time in Rohde Shoes which was a concession in TJ Hughes (for those that don’t know, TJ Hughes is a discount department store that first opened in Liverpool in 1925)
What do you do on a day-to-day basis?
I’m a finance analyst. I process invoices, deal with any purchase order invoice queries, process payments, do the bank reconciliation, process expenses, and run reports amongst other things.
What’s the best thing about working at Bullens?
Working with my team and getting a break from the kids for a few hours, haha!
What’s the funniest question you’ve ever been asked (at work)?
When I worked in marketing I was talking to a potential customer, and I was trying to get some feedback on the barrier spray sample that he’d been sent. So I asked him did he have ‘sore skin’ and he thought I’d said ‘foreskin’ to which I then started shouting ‘no, no, sore skin around your stoma!’, I don’t know who was more mortified me or him!
What do you like doing outside of work?
Spending time with the family.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I’m a black belt in karate! My husband Michael also works for Bullens, he’s the warehouse team manager.
